WHAT IS HTML ENTITY ENCODER/DECODER?

The HTML Entity Encoder/Decoder converts between plain text and HTML entities (named, decimal, hexadecimal) entirely in your browser.

Important

  1. Decoded output is always rendered as plain text, never as live HTML, so there is no injection risk.
  2. Encoding supports an "encode everything" mode or a "preserve already-valid entities" policy.

How to use?

  1. Choose the encode or decode direction.
  2. Paste your text to see the result instantly.
  3. Click copy to grab the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is the decoded output safe — could it run as HTML?

Yes, it is safe. Decoded output is always rendered as plain text; this tool never uses dangerouslySetInnerHTML or any other way to inject decoded content as live HTML.

What is the difference between "Preserve valid entities" and "Encode all"?

"Encode all" treats an existing & as plain text and encodes it again; "Preserve valid entities" recognizes and keeps entities this tool can safely decode, encoding only the rest.

Which encoding modes are supported?

Named entities (e.g. &), decimal numeric entities (A), and hex numeric entities (A).

Decoded output is always shown as plain text — it is never executed or injected as live HTML, so it is safe to paste untrusted content here. Everything runs locally in your browser.
