WHAT IS CSS FORMATTER?

Format CSS with clean indentation for nested at-rules, media queries, keyframes and custom properties.

How to use?

  1. Paste or upload your CSS.
  2. Choose an indent (2 or 4 spaces, or tab).
  3. Click Format, then copy the result.

Frequently asked questions

Does this support SCSS or Less syntax?

No — this tool formats standard CSS only, and does not claim to support SCSS/Less-specific syntax (like nested selectors or variable interpolation), to avoid producing incorrect output.

Are media queries and keyframes formatted correctly?

Yes — nested at-rules (like @media, @keyframes) and CSS custom properties (--variable) are all correctly recognized and given clear indentation.

What happens when the CSS has a syntax error?

A clear error message is shown (e.g. "unclosed block"), and your original input is preserved — the tool never tries to guess or silently fix your stylesheet.
